Sometimes (most of the time) our readers are better informed than we are, so when a reader commented on the new line up for Steve Earle’s the Dukes, we (ok, I) figured it was worth a post:
“New lineup for the Dukes, too. Ambel is out and Chris Masterson (Son Volt) is not only a great player but will provide more charisma. Masterson’s wife, Eleanor Whitmore, will be joining them on fiddle as well as Earle’s wife on keyboards. Earle claims this is the most country thing he’s ever done – should be interesting!”
The Ambel is of course Eric “Roscoe” Ambel and he will be missed but he will be replaced by the great Alt country rock band (after Whiskeytown and Old 97’s -the best of a generation) guitarist from Son Volt!
One more thing: nothing can be more country than Steve circa Guitar Town
