I could never figure out who Jools was, I never really paid attention to the names of musicians. Hell I knew Difford and Tillbrook of Squeeze, of course.
Jools? Keyboard.
That was a really long time ago “Cool For Cats” long ago.
The Brit band was way too pop for me but for some reason, I kept getting drawn in by them. They reminded me of preppy straight edged guys slightly dull but worth a nod.
It didn’t take long for me to find that this band was far more than British bubblegum, on the contrary some of the best storytelling to the coolest rhythms and the constant cool keyboard of Jools Holland.
He of course evolved into a celeb in his own right a fine TV host and musical master and today he celebrates a birthday.
I chose this video as representation cuz of the adorable cigar smoking silliness Holland exhibits. Its unfortunate the clips sound quality is so poor.
