Alyson Camus Dreams Of Summer, And Summer Festivals

Music festivals, they make me think about summer and fun and heat and exhaustion and lack of sleep and annoying crowd and holding-my-pee-for-a-day, and starvation,… basically they are a pain.
But every year I forgot about the bad part, and only the fun part survives in my memory for some reason.

That said, there are festivals and festivals, I will not go to the Coachella kind of festivals, because these are the monsters, the huge kinds and the nightmares of excess. Ok, if someone gives me a free ticket for Coachella (one ticket costs $310 with the fees), I guess I could try to go just for one day, since there is no way I am paying for a tent spot on the site,… actually, it is already too late for this, since it was announced yesterday that camping for tent and car has already sold out! It went also on sale yesterday by the way.

But smaller festivals are another animal, they are more human, and I feel far less frustrated because I can afford them and see most of the people who play there, contrary to the insane 60 bands per-day-line-up for Coachella.

This week was announced the return of the Sunset Strip Music Festival which will take over the west part of the famous boulevard on August 18, 19 and 20. It should not be confused with the Sunset Junction Fair, which will happen on the east side (Silver Lake) on August 27 and 28… August will be a busy month.

Of course it’s way too early to know about the line-up but the SSMF will kick off with a tribute event celebrating a Sunset Strip icon. Last year, it was Slash, and the previous year, Ozzy Osbourne.
It may be too early to know about the line-up but I wonder whether it’s too early to ask for a press pass?
