Gerald Bostock is Ian Andersons imaginary friend.  The genius 8 year old boy who penned the ‘epic’ poem and inspired “Thick as A Brick” (1 and 2!) is really just Anderson and a pen.  It’s a pretty interesting idea but none the less there is no Bostock.

We all need a muse and even if it’s your own imagination it can be quite effective.  So here comes word that the man and his mind-muse are back at it with a new release.  I love Jethro Tull, and I admire and respect Ian Anderson so anything out of his camp is worth attention.

The label explains: “Following a 40-year political career, Bostock reunited with Anderson, taking the role of tour manager on a string of shows. Homo Erraticus marks his return to songwriting, and it’s based on an unpublished manuscript by amateur historian Ernest T Parritt (1965-1928).

“In Homo Erraticus Parrit examines key events in British history, with a string of prophecies stretching the current day and the future. Visions of past lives caused by the delirium of malaria generate the characters through whose eyes the stories are told, including a nomadic Neolithic settler, an Iron Age blacksmith, a Christian month, a turnpike innkeeper – and even Prince Albert.”

There is a pretty good size European tour in support of this, yet still no word on the US stops (if any).  Stay tuned on that.  The new album will release on April 14th.
