While most may be familiar with the original ‘Animale’ constructed by Don Diablo featuring the smooth voiced Dragonette, or Datsik’s dubstep remix; the remix by Oliver by far takes this auditory cake.
I in no way have the intention to rip on any other mixes or the original but dubstep has a way of depleting the purity of songs by replacing fluid melodies with overly bassy hits. If I want to be yelled at by a robot I’ll go to an industrial park.
The issue I have with the original is that it doesn’t necessarily get me to the point I want to get to with the song. It overall has a consistent sound and It’s nice and new age with Dragonette’s voice. I love that new baby girl voice with grimy lyrics artists are using. Like Uffie (check the song ‘Pop the Glock’). And I really like the bass-line in the original. A lot.
However, Oliver’s remix is my jump off; and it makes me smile. It has a certain disco taste to it which makes you just want to groove out with our arms up and your head back. It peaks when you want to feel it most and stays steady so you’re never waiting around to feel the beat again. I jam this out in my car, my job, and has been a consistent favorite to anyone I introduce it to.
While I find Oliver to be the superior remix to Don Diablo’s Animale, I encourage anyone to take the ‘Animale’ challenge.
