Tiny Venue Tour: Taking Back Sunday and The Used

it’s a sell out

I first caught on to this trend because of Brand New.  Brand New perpetually claims they’re breaking up and then tour.  Much like the boy who cries wolf.  They create their own hype and then tour the smallest venues thus causing a buzz, a sell out, and mass hype.

There was a time when bands wanted to be arena fillers- seems the trend now is to squeeze into small venues for a sell out.  Do you get some sort of bonus check if you sell out a club?  Like a pair of too small jeans Taking Back Sunday is taking on the neighborhood bar and you can be sure this ticket will not be available long.

It is not that they’re so insanely popular but rather they are stuck in the middle.  They wont fill a stadium, but they may fill an arena- we wouldn’t know, they’re taking on your local instead.

TBS and The Used is a pop punk kids dream and they’re playing a venue here in Hartford so small I cant imagine who chose it.  Does that provide a more intimate experience?  Depends what you consider intimate- I personally cannot stand being jammed into a teenaged stew filled with Uggs and NorthFace.

Charging more than the common $15 door cost is the only indication that this is something out of the ordinary.  Oh and there are ticket packages that include the bands new albums if you’re interested in acquiring those.
