A Multi-Generational Playlist -by Woody Fuller

Merry X-mas to all!! (Even though I didn’t even realize it was Jesus/Santa’s birthday until about an hour ago.) Regardless, I am with my family, we are having a wonderful time; laughing together of times past, going on various adventures, drinking, overall having quite a merry time; the fact that we are in Costa Rica defiantly doesn’t hurt either.
My family enjoys doing many things together, unfortunately, a lot of time that involves sitting around some kind of screen, (TV, Movie, iPad..ect.) Nonetheless we are together, we are happy. Well I hate TVs, for one it is un-social, for second, I AM, (or at least trying to be) music, and thirdly, I need to start writing more.
So for all three of those reasons, I decided we should all sit around and listen to music together, as a family.“We don’t like any of the same music,” I hear from cousins and aunts. I suggest that we all gather around the blue touch speaker my uncle has, (it’s super sick) and pick some out. And let me point out that between us we have a 16-year old in high school, an 18-year old just starting college, two 21-23-year olds fresh OUT of college, (I thank you) , a 32-year old and our parents, all 60+.
We begin to deeply examine all of our iTunes libraries, (so basically just mine, no offense fam, but their iTunes are a bit slackin) to find 8 songs, (1 per family member) which we all like for a hypothetical play list… We jammed for an hour or so and found 13, and could have kept going all night long.
Check em out.
1. The Beatles- All You need is love – Easy first pick, anybody from any generation likes The Beatles
2. Jim Croce – Time in a Bottle – Never even heard of this guy, but the oldies seemed to like him, and i didn’t want them loosing interest in my experiment too early.
3. Led Zepplin- Stairway to heaven – Classic
4. The Fugees – Killing me softly- We ( Gen X and Yers) like The Fugees.. apparently there is an older version of this song.
