Paper Jams. A twenty dollar electronic toy that has pre recorded songs or the ability to freestyle that tiny electronic guitar.
You can pick one up a your local pharmacy.
They’re cool. They’re fun.
And Gibson Guitars is suing Jamz for copyright infringement.
See, any person would find it a blatant conflict of interest, what amounts to a photograph with a sound chip poses an amazing threat to the premier guitar manufacturer.
By ‘infringing’ on the Les Paul style Gibson stands to lose millions of dollars as musicians flock to Walmart to pick up this beaut forgoing the real thing.
The US courts are filled with some of the most ridiculous cases and never does it fail to amuse me
I could see if this toy said “Gibson Les Paul”, but to mimic a style is it really worth the fight?
Apparently so.
I think its a really pathetic way for global leader in quality music gear to get some headline. Let the children play- and maybe they’ll grow up to own the real thing.
