How can you go from this
to this?
I don’t really care what Miley Cyrus does. She can smoke a palm tree for all I care. Shes an adult. Her fans don’t own her. Shes is entitled to make mistakes and live her life like any other person.
We can cast judgement, we can boycott her we can talk smack. But when you sign on the dotted line be prepared for just that. If you dream of fame if you work your ass of for fame its not all bubbles and smiles.
Its not as if celebrity bashing is a new thing so even at a young age Miley and her peers are well aware of the possibility of image tarnish. Child professionals are doomed all the more. Under 18, your parents hold the reigns. As your managers not only professionally but personally. That’s their job.
As a parent my child has been offered opportunities that would elevate her in a professional capacity from modeling to acting and its been my job to yes or no as I deem appropriate. I opt to keep her a kid as long as I can.
What saddens me most about Mileys latest fall from grace is the tweet from her father,
Billy Ray Cyrus.
Now here is a man who’s in the industry with his boot dance achy breaky whatever, he knows the pitfalls. He said OK for his daughter to be part of it, he participated in her career, right there right on her show.
Yet in response to the bong smoking salvia issue here was his public remark:
“I had no idea. Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. I’m so sad. There is much beyond my control right now.”
As every parents lament.
You hit a point when their world is out of your control, but then its time to get your performance review as a parent. Howdja do? Did you lead by example? Did you set clear lines of expectation?
Did you let did you ride the train instead of conduct it?
hmmm
I’m sad about this too.
