1. Untitled – Eminem – “You just hurt my goddam feeling, man, and it was the last one I had”. His best song in a year, somewhere in the depths of Recovery.
2. Sometimes I Cry – Eric Benet – In one fell swoop Benet has gone from a MOR r&b shallow loverboy, to a contender for and, to my mind, a usurper of, Maxwell’s crown. Four tracks down, Lost In Time is the best soul album I’ve heard since r. kelly’s Untitled. This song sounds like Prince in ballad mode if Prince was a better singer. You must listen to it.
3. Secrets – Ramona
4. Sway – The Rolling Stone – The opening lick sounds like somebody stumbling down before steadying themselves.
5. Transmission – Joy Division – I am writing this Friday afternoon but I have no doubt Hook played it Friday evening.
6. Crazy Beautiful Life – Ke$ha
7. Wish List – Neon Trees – “I just want you, darling, I just want you…”
8. Vampire Money – My Chemical Romance – Gerard’s like a narcotic…
9. Getting Ready For Christmas – Paul Simon – The intro, a good 30 seconds, is too long.
10. You Sweet So And So – Jack Buchanan – I would LOVE to spend a month in 1933. Does anybody remember that english show where a man travels back and forth from London in the early 40s nd present day London? Except it is REALLY REALLY London in the 40s. I’d like to do it with New York in the 30s. Maybe Lebanon in the 30s as well… just so I could hang with my Grandpa.
