Theres the cover art for The Decemberists upcoming release “The King is Dead”…well then
It does look rather naturish, no longer the more artsy obscure covers such as “Hazards of Love” or “Picaresque“.. trees?
The band will be on Conan November 18 peforming the “Down By The Water”, the album is ‘out’ November 22.
I have loved this band for awhile now but this… tree thing sorta puts me off.
What I loved about them was the almost dark carnival feel of their music.
I do like “Down By The Water” but I do not like this quote.
Says front dude Colin Melloy:
“Over the last eleven years or so, since I moved to Portland, I feel like I’ve been mining mostly English traditions for influence,” he said in a statement. “I guess I’ve kind of come back to a lot of the more American music that got me going in the first place – R.E.M. and Camper Van Beethoven and all these bands that borrowed from more American traditions like Neil Young and the Byrds.”
Lets hope that was a joke.
