Why would I want to pre order Elvis Costello’s album?
Will he deliver it? Will I get cool swag?
No Ill get some bonus tracks that will get bootlegged all over the place anyway so whats the point?
Presales are usually away to obtain working capitol.. I should hope EC isn’t in that position so to me it seems rather stupid.
I guess its a good thing to do if you’re afraid you’re going to forget to get it. I mean I’m not sure about that either since its not a ‘limited’ release.
And its digital so can it sell out?
I remember flying on release day to real record stores cuz what i listened to generally got a shipment of 3 copies and me and the other 3 hardcore kids in my area would pummel each other to get it first (I ALWAYS did btw).
Now?
Well I’m not gonna go to iTunes at midnight, I don’t really care for intangible hype and well it seems sorta begging.
Elvis will most likely not acquire a tremendous new fan base. Right now he should be most interested in keeping us old folks, who have the $500 bucks to spare to go see his shows. satisfied.
Hes not doing well with the other editor of this blog but I’m still OK with it all.
