Boardwalk Empire Massacre -by Alyson Camus

I  don’t really watch Boardwalk Empire, the new HBO star series, I have usually too many things to do on Sunday nights, but I have the weird habit to turn on the TV without really watching it. Last night, I just noticed that the music played during the opening of this show sounded curiously familiar. Sure, it’s a track from the Brian Jonestown Massacre!

The beginning of the song ‘Straight up and Down’ is used as an efficient vehicle for the series, engaging the coolness of the stormy psychedelic guitars of Anton Newcombe and his ever-changing click, loudly playing the muscular Velvet-Underground-wannabe riffs.

So it seems that the guy who wanted to keep music evil and used to live in Silver Lake, is not that rebellious anymore! Signing with HBO for a big success series whose first episode was directed by no less than Martin Scorsese, and cost between $18M and $30M, is a huge recognition and probably a lot of bucks.
