I love Morrissey so much it hurts. He is an absolute god and can do no wrong. He, out of the blue, answered a few questions on True To You and used his wit and sass and fantastic sense of humor and biting word usage to satiate fans’ hunger for updates and new material. In the Q&A, he announced that he’s writing a novel.
He said that he’s “mid-way through” his novel. An entirely new form of Moz. It’s his debut as a writer (other than his autobiography), and it’s absolutely thrilling. He has such extraordinary ability as a lyricist and every sentence he utters is well thought out and quotable. I can’t wait for his book. I can’t even imagine what it’s going to be about, and what topics he’s going to cover. Will it be nonfiction or an elaborate tale? It’ll probably be a while before it’s finished and published- probably 2015- but it will be so worth the wait.
He writes so much about being meat-free in the Q&A, which I love. That’s what Moz is all about. Everything that he says is a perfect quote. “If I’m introduced to anyone who eats beings, I walk away. Imagine, for example, if you were in a nightclub and someone said to you “Hello, I enjoy bloodshed, throat-slitting and the destruction of life,”well, I doubt if you’d want to exchange phone numbers.” I mean where do you even get that from? He’s just brilliant. And, he’s incredibly harshly honest because he doesn’t care who hates him and who doesn’t. It’s a sense of confidence that makes him even more perfect.
However, the greatest quote from the whole thing? “I think we all die feeling apologetic and embarrassed. I’m as much of a mess now as I was when I was 16.” It’s so true, and to see Morrissey the God acknowledging this fact makes him feel just a little bit more human.
Oh, and he’s about to record a new album. He was so subtle and casual about it, meanwhile a thousand fans’ hearts jumped out of their chests. It’s nice to see that the man is on top of his game and putting out new work. Moz isn’t done yet, kids. So stick around.
