Neema’s “Escape”: What I Am Listening To Right This Minute -by Iman Lababedi

Leonard Cohen is quoted as saying “In the midst of all the static, a voice of true feeling

arises – a rare event!”
Neema, a Montrealian (from montreal i mean!)  is pretty good and Cohen was one of her new album Watching You Think producers which we in the biz call street cred up the ying yang though I am not quite sure what she is up to.
The song I’ve heard, “Escape”,  is nothing like what i’ve heard it is meant to be. It is slighter than the jazz references I’ve been getting  but better. A lovely, sixties, almost Bacharah-y girl group, especially those horns. By the end she is Sandie Shaw-y lallalalaing her way to dry dock.
