Much Better Things by Iman Lababedi

A  post earlier today had Helen detailing a new Kinks tribute album.
First song Bruce Springsteen performing the Kinks classic “Better Things” from 1981’s Give The People What They Want. A verse as sweet and lovely though not as somber as “Days” followed with a rocking hard chorus.
A beneficent well wisher to a fellow travel -a musician by the sounds of it (“hoping all the verses rhyme, all the choruses too”) having a hard time of it.
I’ve heard two covers. Marky Ramone rocked it out on 1997 with his band the Intruders, speeding it up and nailing the chorus dead. Good version. Less successful because, cmon, how much does the Fountains Of Wayne owe to Ray Davies?  a touch longer and well played but they don’t come within a mile of the high notes that Marky simply ignores.
Honest?
It is hard to fuck with this classic and Springsteen will nail it with ease.
“Here’s wishing you the bluest skies and something better comes tomorrow.”
Amen.
