Tuesday Morning Rock Shuffle: Too English by Iman Lababedi

1. Skinny Genes – Eliza Doolittle – Maybe she is too English.

2. Raindrops – Basement Jaxx – I can hear three distinct lines of sound and none of them need a vocal.

3. Loveless Love – Louis Armstrong – This is a reheasal squence, and I sware I don’t lnow how it can sound so sweet. Armstong is figuring out the ke, but he has had enough after a coupla minutes and blows it away.

4. Untitled – Eminem – You know how some concert improve in your memory? This one didn’t.

5. Sara Smile – The Bird And The Bee – Lovely version, makes the original feel like a classic: which it wasn’t.

6. Ready or Not – The Fugees – In retrospect it was kinda interesting watching the end of Lauryn’s career at Governor’s Island.

7. Wish You Were Here – Pink Floyd – have a cigar

8. Addictive Love – Bebe and Cece Winans – Creepy love: Jesus or your brother, you choose.

9. Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out – Mayer Hawthorne – White eyed soul of a very high quality.

10. Albert Goes West – Nick Cave and the Bad Seed – From his last album, which killed, this is like goth rock without the gothinesss.

11. Mutineer – Warren Zevon – I’ve got a killer version of Dylan performing this.

12. Somebody Have Mercy – Sam Cooke – The claim is Cooke was blacker in harlem. Can’t hear it for the most part though I can here.

13. Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain – Hank Williams – Maybe it wasn’t the songwriting, maybe it was the voice.

14.Don’t come Back Knockin’ – Buddy Holly – On second tier songs? He sounds more like a country boy.

15. A Rage Against Heaven – For Science – In which the band show their ambitions and then break up.

16. Love Me or hate me – Lil Wayne – Yuck, not Weezy at his best.

17. It Get It In – 50 Cent – Not bad, I am liking fitty more by the day.

18. Gotta Have You – Pleasure P – Hey, where did the tween sensation go?

19. Helen Wheels (Crazed) – Paul McCartney And Wings – This was circa Band On the Run. It’s like having your life thrown in the backseat and driven away with.

20. Motel Matches – Elvis Costello – The Sam who just got shot? Sam Cooke.

21. I Hate People – Jemina Pearl and Iggy Pop – Just awful, let this be a lesson to all of us.

22. The Nearness Of You – The Rolling Stones – From the Live Licks album. I remember Keith singing this live when all we wanted him to do was sing “happy” and hand the mic back to Mick.

23. Circles – George Harrison – The album isn’t band, the song is like being beaten on the head by a hoarse caniople.

24. Quadrophenia – The Who – More or less their last great moment.

25. Play On Playa – Nas feat Snoop Dogg – People love nas because he can rap. He can rap. Knows scratches and beat as well. Doesn’t know a fucking thing about backing tracks and samples.

26. heart And Soul – Joy division – Pretty good, minimalistic, haunting.

27. All About U – 2Pac – Wonder how he woulda moved on? Really, a really really great rapper. That’s what is missing from modern rap, RAPPERS are missing from modernr ap.

28. Viva Viva Rock N Roll – Chuck Berry – Whats the difference between first and second tier Berry? A matter of inches.

29. L’Amour Est Mort – Jacquel Brel – Vive l’amour Jacque, c’est vous est mort. Tristement.

30. The Difference In the Shade – Bright Eyes – Gee, he was deep wasn’t he.
