New York Magazines Songs Of Summer

I tend to agree with Karen Anne -I can’t hear Katy Perry, recipient of New Magazine’s Song Of Summer for the godawful “California Gurl”, how can you look at her without thinking of Russel Brand? And really, the man defines sleaziness. Katy claims not to have read Brand’s memoir “My Booky Wooky”.
I have.
Perhaps she should.
Anyway, my caveats notwithstanding, “Gurl” was obviously the single of the summer.
Here are the other wiinners:
R&B – Ceel Lo’s “Fuck You” – And deservedly so.
Car Stereo Hip Hop – Kanye West’s “Power” – Nope, “Monster”.
Fist Pump Rock – Brandon Flower’s “Crossfire” – If the rest of the album was only this good.
Crossover Country – Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue” – Yeah, better than anything Lady Antebellum have released in awhile.
Hipster Cookout – Wavves’ “King Of The Beach” – I’d go with “Post Acid” but OK…
