Weezer Clothing Line Makes Alyson Camus Hurl(ey)

Weezer, you’re fooling nobody! I haven’t really listened to the new album that makes Helen instantaneously happy as she was saying yesterday, but it is not my point, I’m talking about the title and the cover of ‘Hurley’.

Weezer, do you really want us to believe that you had that guy from Lost in mind since the beginning? I think the cover is a complete cover-up, a cover-up of the fact you went in bed with some big corporate machinery.
Just look at the facts:

1) Weezer said the album was named after Jorge Garcia aka Hurley from the TV show ‘Lost’, and put his picture on the cover.

2) The clothing line Hurley has just released a collection of Weezer-inspired clothes. When I saw them performing at the US surf open, where the name of surf-skateboard label was all over the place, I knew that it could not just be a coincidence.

And if you want to take a look at the clothes, they are on stereogum.com

Confused? The band members seem to be too, or may be they are just playing a little game. Last August, Brian Bell posted this on the band message board:

‘Just wanted to clear something up.

Recently I did an interview in Denver where I was asked why we called the album Hurley. I mistakenly said that Hurley funded the album. I later found out that it wasn’t true at all. Weezer paid for every penny of this recording. The reason the record is called ‘Hurley’ is because Hurley (Jorge Garcia) is on the cover. We thought about leaving the record untitled for the fourth time, but that causes a lot of problems and we knew people would end up calling the record ‘Hurley’ anyway. We got no money for calling the record ‘Hurley’. Thanks folks,

-Brian’
He did not know who was financing the album? I find the whole story unbelievably stupid.

What game are you playing Weezer?
