I seem to have alot of opportunities to write about the bands of my youth. The Specials, The Beat, The Ramones seems to be everything old is new again. This at times makes me happy. I’m proud to be a member of the punk rock revolution.
I look back on those dates almost completly proud. I was part of it, it helped me become who I’ve become.
Good or Bad.
What I find interesting is all the present buzz about the Sex Pistols. This photograph was a poster that hung in a young Helens bedroom for years. I’ve memorized every nuance. Cool eh?
So we have Lydon punching women in the face (so they say), we have Sex Pistols perfume (seriously WTF on that one- great packaging though), we have Lydon doing ads for butter in the UK (I’m vegan but if I werent I’d be sucker enough to buy it) and now?
Well now its not just the faces and the name its the music.

The classic song ‘Pretty Vacant” is now being used for a commercial encouraging betting on soccer. The band has been paid an undisclosed figure for the track, and the four members – Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock- have each been given a £500 bet to make for a charity of their choice. A UK based company, giving us the ultimate swindle.
Ya gotta love it.
