Surfer Blood have signed to Warner Bros. (a major label if you’re paying attention) according to the self righteous and smug promoters at pitchkork.
And i mention it because… I dunno but if I was banking on an unsigned band I believe it might be… WAVVES. Surfer Blood are a pretty good band but a little too heavy handed for the big boys at WB who, given WB’s history (lest we forget: they mismanged Marshall Crenshaw into oblivion) will not have the time and talent to nurture Surfer Blood.
On the other hand… maybe this is a bright new day for the majors, maybe they can enter the 21st centuty, kicking and screaming sure, but there nevertheless.
