My Morning On Daytrotter by Iman Lababedi

Ahead of the postings for the first time in months I used my extra time to… well, to take a nap BUT then i hightailed to daytrotter and updated my music files.with some sessions that interested me…
Drive By Truckers- Songs that sucked still suck and the standout “Birthday Boy” improves on guitar but the vocal sounds muffled. Grade: C+
Arms – I have been waiting – I have been awaiting for the return of the “Tiger Tamer” boys for a coupla years. The sound is crisp but they’ve gone a little arty on me. Grade: B
Real Estate – Accentuate their folkieness on a really good session that is just perfect for beginners to this strange band. Grade: B+
Light Pollution – The daytrotter boys manage to travese the sonic of landscape leaving its sense of song powerful and luscious, especially on the epic “Bad Vibes”. Grade: B+
Kid Sister – I’ve wondered how the producers would handle rap: the answer? brilliantly. This session is better than anything on her debut album, the boys never ever lose sight of these tracks as songs. Jay-Z should pay em a visit. Kid Cudi should give em a coupla tracks for his newbie. A great achievement. Grade: A
Wayne Kramer – Legendary New York country rocker in folkie mode. Coulda done without “Redemption Song”. Grade: B
The Del McCoury Band – No harm, no foul with the epic bluegrass band. Grade: B+
dd/mm/yyyy – Pretty good noise blues and it sounds way normal for what it is. Grade: B
Against Me – Always found these guys a bit ordinary but DT gives em a hard buzzy melodic sound. Grade: B+
Surfer Blood – Are these guys part of the Surf folk scene in L.A. Pretty good in my books. Grade: B+
The Mynabirds – Hnnn, the DT guys needed to cut the instruments to just a piano so all we can hear is her voice. They don’t do a thing to the originals instead. Grade: C
