This comes under the heading of GREAT GREAT GREAT news. George Clinton has been in the studio with Sly Stone and an album of original recordings is in the can. Clinton says Sly’s new stuff is awesome and with Parliament/Funadelia behind me, maybe hip hop kids will have some new stuff to sample.
Incidentally, I went to see Sly at BB King’s, the early of two shows, and he was in no worse shape than, say, Brian Wilson. A little damed, wandering on and off stage at random, letting the Family do the heavy linking. But every now and then he seemed to shake off the cobwebs, get behind the keys, and nail it.
