James Murphy of LCD Soundsystems, playing the NME stage at the same time as GNR were (or perhaps weren’t) playing the main stage at the Leeds Fest -is here the place for another tirade against Festivals? Maybe not, maybe, just like Murphy, I’ll go easy on you (they were the last set of the three day fest).
This is what Murphy had to say about GNR to NME: “”I don’t give a shit about Guns N’ Rosesexcept for [bassist and former Replacements member] Tommy Stinson, which I feel weird about.”
I dunno about that: I can’t believe Murphy couldn’t get off on, at the very least, Chinese Democracy. Rose may well be an asshole, but the album is an audiophile’s delight and if Murphy isn’t an audiohile what the hell is he.
Here is the setlist by the way:
‘Us V Them’
‘Drunk Girls’
‘Get Innocuous’
‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’
‘All My Friends’
‘I Can Change’
‘Tribulations’
‘Movement’
‘Yeah’
