Radiohead Driver Phillip Selway Steps Out From Behind The Stand by Helen bach

All the noise on Thom Yorke sorta takes away from the fact that Radiohead is more than just him

Way in back behind a kit is drummer Phillip Selway.

A solo endeavor from a drummer is sorta interesting don’t you think?

Right now you can hear four songs from his open coming release ‘Familial”

First up is a hauntingly great one called “By Some Reason”, may be just a bit too Starbucks for repetition

“Beyond Reason’ is another weirdy sorta sound, this is certainly not straying from Radiohead. Its almost like hearing Radiohead playing from your neighbors house. Somewhat muffled and distorted, yet without a doubt that same feel.

I’m sorta disappointed, c’mon Phil this was your chance to take a leap!

To quote his myspace

“It’s a cardinal sin for drummers to come in to rehearsals with the comment ‘I’ve got this song’!” he knows the time has come for his songs

Um maybe not. “Broken Promises” pretty much made me wrap a light cord around my neck and throw it over the bar. I’m lucky it ended fast or I would have never made it.

“Don’t Look Down”, saved the day. Yeah its way too mellow for me, yeah it has nothing unique to really offer. and that fucking whisper lyrics are far from sexy. Its like Winnie the Pooh Rock, but its got pretty lyrics and a nice ambient trill going on.

But still sucks.
