Interpol: $1,000 Tix? KCRW WILL Need An Archangel To Move Em by Alyson Camus

KCRW is a public radio station here in Los Angeles, broadcasting from SMC (Santa Monica College), and between the NPR news and other shows, they offer many music programs like the excellent ‘Morning Becomes Eclectic’, and they even have Henry Rollins doing his thing on Saturday nights.

Right now KCRW is in the middle of its pledge drive and they will give you a lot of great stuff if you give them money. Today something caught my attention: If you donate at the ‘Archangel level’ and this is $1,000 or more, you are eligible to request a pair of tickets to a special intimate performance by Interpol on September 6th.

I don’t know who came up with that Archangel denomination, but it’s a little on the esoteric side for something related to money.

Of course, it is also  on a first come first served basis, and the location can only hold 150 people.
OK intimate shows are nice, but for $1,0000 a seat??? I bet some rich  Interpol fans are going to be KCRW members all the sudden.
For a more affordable  $100, KCRW gives you CDs, or some useless things like mugs and caps, but if you are rich, and out of work (I could be wrong but these secret intimate shows usually happen quite early in the day) you have the privilege to be front row for your favorite band’s concert!

On the other hand, Interpol will play at the Greek Theater on October 23rd in LA and tickets go on sale this Saturday for only $35-39.50.

And meanwhile I got a free ticket to see this same band, Interpol, performing at the Jimmy Kimmel live just 2 days later, on September 8th!! I was surprised how easy it was.

But I really really hope I can go because it is also a work day…
