The Face Of Fandom by Iman Lababedi

The above pix is from New York Magazine’s really fun but not really illuminating “Inside The Bubble With Justin Bieber”.
For we civilians the tween sensensations life is simply unreal. Causing riots wherever he goes, and fanning the flames of young girls wherever he goes, the hysteria is somewhere between the Salem Witch Trials and Beatlemania, though with more reason than the former, less than the latter.
I am not not a fan of Bieber myself. When it comes to pure pop I prefer an edge of r&b and Bieber has it and though his voice ins in the process of breaking  so there goes the upper register, his recorded falsetto is awful sweet. Finally, the one time I saw him live, hopping around the stage at Jingle Ball with a sprained foot I thought he was fun and I thought he was pretty good.
Which leads us back to the fans. Is there a sexual component to these girls adoration. At 13, 14 years old, I would certainly think so. And even if desire is sublimented into romantic daydreams as above to the more liquid nature of desire, that is a good thing.
. The girl in the pic above is such innocent gleefulness, such joy, who would deny her this moment even if he did suck?
