The only popular musician whose position on politics has anything effect on mine is Elton John.
If he is on the opposite of an issue with me I will give it a second look. From Israel to Gay rights to Arizona immigration polic, he puts pratlling neophytes like Zach and Conor to shame.
Here is Sir Elton at a concert in Arizona yesterday: “We are all very pleased to be playing in Arizona. I have read that some of the artists won’t come here. They are fuckwits! Let’s face it: I still play in California, and as a gay man I have no legal rights whatsoever. So what’s the fuck’s with these people?
I am not at all confortable with the Arizona law, nobody needs me to teach the world how easy it is to abuse laws once they are on the book. Over and above which, the war should be on gangsters and druglords border wars and umorting and NOT MIGRANT WORKERS.
However, it is ridiculous to boycott Arizona. Who are you hurting besides your fans who probably agree with you and if they don’ta agree, how much better to make your point to the people most effected.
Kudos to Sir Elton…. AGAIN!
