Dylan To Reissue First 8 Dylan Albums In Mono by Mike Nessing and Iman Lababedi

Mike Nessing sez:
Sony/Legacy to reissue the first 8 Bob Dylan albums in mono.
Official word on this wont appear for at least a couple of weeks, but sometime before the end of 2010, Bob Dylan’s first eight records, from “Bob Dylan” to “John Wesley Harding” will grace store shelves in CD format in glorious monaural format.
This will be the first time any of these records will be released with sound quality that actually matches that of the original albums when they were first released.
Back at that time, albums were principally mixed for mono release, with less care and attention being paid to the stereo mixes, and many collectors prefer the mono versions. None have been issued officially on CD in mono before.
Each album will have a paper sleeve and the set will be in a slipcase, with a booklet, including liner notes by Greil Marcus. The official announcement of this box-set is expected in mid to late August, two months ahead of their actual release around October.
Iman Lababedi:
I wonder how many ways Dylan has released the big 8:
1. Vinyl
2. Casette
3. 8 track
4. Quadrophonic
5. Vinyl Stereo
6. CD
7. CD Stereo
8. CD Remastered
9. mp3s
10. CD re-remastered (no really)
11. CD Mono
I think that’s it and congrats to Dylan for finding a way to make more money off the same moldy old songs.
