I felt a little bit sad when reading the aftermath of the big sold-out concert against the Arizona immigration law: Rage against the machine had not played in LA for 10 years, so the Palladium was evidently packed with fans, and this made Conor Oberst and his Mystic Valley’s act very, very difficult.
Do you imagine Rage’s fans liking the folky tunes of Mr. Oberst? Not really! That’s right, the crowd booed him quite a bit and was chanting ‘Rage, Rage’ during his set. The Hollywood reporter is even saying he had one of the ’most doomed-to-fail opening slots in memory’, since people were talking and texting (no surprise there) and some even shouted ‘You suck!’ peppered with saltier language.
Poor Conor ! I can’t believe it did not see that coming!
