I know Mr. Iman Lababedi won’t approve much of these next couple sentences, but here goes nothing. I wasn’t too impressed with LCD Soundsystem at bisco this past weekend. This is odd, even to me, because when I like a band, ( I like LCD and was quite pumped to see them), I really really like them live. And I genuinely like LCD. I play them on my iPod, at dance parties to get everyone loose, they are on my morning pump up mix. I even have fav songs, which include “Drunk Girls,” “Daft Punk is Playing at My House,” and “Losing My Edge”, all of which they played. But for some reason or another I wasn’t feelin their set.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed myself; danced with a variety of ladies feeling a similar groove as mine, but I just wasn’t 100% into it. I couldn’t get into my “dance-music-groove-trace” which I normally fall right into with any hesitation.
But you know what?? I am NOT going to blame LCD for this slight mishap, all the blame is going to the fact that I had a mere 1 hour of sleep over the last 40+ hours of life, I was dehydrated, ( even though Helen Bach believes that’s the best thing about festivals,) and that the sun did a number on me that day, extracting every last ounce of energy I had saved up. I suppose I needed a break. 12 hours of music later, time to recharge the battery.
