I understand the urgency of getting  your Christmas tune out there. You have a limited shelf life.  Figure you have 2 months tops to get any sort of play.  The upside is becoming a classic, like The Waitress’ “Christmas Wrapping”.  Seriously, you do the holiday tune correctly you can live off the royalties.

This being said there is no excuse for a ‘lyric video’.  Glorified Power Point presentations are mind numbing.  These word videos with minor graphic do allow you to sing along but that about it.  This particular one is horrible.  For a melancholy vocal and a romantic verbage we have an odd shaky swirly read along.

But the song isn’t too bad.  I have never been a fan of the nasal pop punk lovers lament vocal.  Trust me when I say everyone from Mayday Parade to Bayside pull this shit but New Found Glory are the great grandfathers (cuz yeah they’ve been around long enough for the designation) of whine rock.  The band has been around since about 1996, 17 years is a long time and their fans are rabid.

I have never bought in to their sound.  Man whine never really moved me but hey- Im not 20 either.  This song is cute enough but the video drops its rating down like a rock.  Here is a suggestion- put “Nothing For Christmas” on your holiday playlist but skip the video.  Oh and this is not the ‘Nothing For Christmas” you’re familiar with.  There is no ‘mommy and daddy are mad’, its more the romantic ‘I don’t need anything cuz I have you’..type crap’.  Like I said, shelf live 2 months.
