Hear ye: what rock nyc is listening to 12-4-13

Still feeling more

1. Heaven On Earth – Boston – Sure, they miss Brad Delp but they still got the melodies and those big ol’ guitars and it makes a melodic roar of a sound; maybe Tom can do this forever (or every eleven years) – A-

2. Never To Be Forgotten – Marshall Crenshaw – The galloping rhythm is absolutely unforgettable, and Crenshaw’s timing on the trippy lyric is impeccable – A

3. It Won’t Stop (with Chris Brown) – Sevyn Streeter- Not the banger you expected, but a shapely soul song – B+

4. No Strings – Chloe Howl – Never has a one night stand sounded so cheeky! – A

5. Change Me – Justin Bieber – Second dog out of six by reckoning, pretty good going by the most hated man in pop music – C-

6. Drive All Night – Glen Hansard – Eight minutes of sheer hell – D

7. It’s Not My Time To Go-Go – Black Flag – Were these guys ever good? I keep on mistaking them for Husker Du – C-

8. The House Where Nobody Lives – Marshall Crenshaw – It is hard to tell if Del sounds like marshall, or Marshall sounds like Del – B+

9. I Got You – The Britannicas – My buddy Herb Eimerman sings lead on this Del Shannon cover and sounds  like an English sixties pop rocker, like Allan Clarke or Tony Jackson – B+
