After my first listen through of Eminem’s newest CD, “Recovery”, I honestly wanted my money back. I was hoping that after his initial relapse his recovery would bring him back to his crazy, “bitch I’m gonna kill you”, old school style of rap. Only initially intrigued with “No Love” feat Weezy, mainly because of its sample of Haddaway’s “What is Love”.
It wasn’t until my second listen that i started to hear some of the pain inside Mr. Mathers come out via his lyrics, especially in “You’re Never Over,” a tribute to friend Proof who was shot dead in 2008 at a Detroit nightclub.
OK so its obviously not his best, not even close, but its also not that bad. But please Slim Shady can you stop trying to sing, you’re a rapper. Just rap. You don’t see dummies like me trying to write.
