This is the big one, Kanye west being opened for by Kendrick Lamar. Four nights, and I have tix for two, one at Barclay Center and, more importantly, a Saturday night gig at MSG. I’ve seen West twice In the past year, both times, the 12-12-12 gig and closing down Governor’s Ball, have been the sort of gigs you think about for a long time to come and this Tuesday at Barclay’s and Saturday at MSG, I plan to make some more memories. Don’t even think of missing it.
Tuesday – Metric – Bowery Ballroom – Semi-popular dance band from Toronto, last album wasn’t up to much but not bad on stage
Thursday – Gin Blossoms – Stage 48 – Gimme New Miserable Experience and the Crenshaw song or give me death!
Thursday – Jonathan Richman – Bowery Ballroom – Unfortunately, not too much Modern Lovers, still worth catching
Friday – Hot Tuna – The Concert Hall – Blues cover band from the 1960s
Friday – Lez Zeppelin – Highline Ballroom – Since the real thing won’t tour because, well, because…
Friday – Rick Derringer – Iridium – Guitar hero hoochie koo
Friday – Sleigh Bells – T6 – SOld out and no surprise, these guys are terrific on stage
Comment: a crap week by nyc standards
