Overboard- Boy Jumps Ship- By Mary Magpie

The four-piece UK natives Boy Jumps Ship was suggested for those who like Twin Atlantic, and being a fan, I looked up their Myspace.

“Backstays and Halyards” is unlike any song I’ve heard before. I must say that I absolutely love it. It makes you want to sing along while jumping up and down and not care if you knock something over.

“A Wilmington Dream” is my favourite song by BJS. I get the mental image of a huge crowd outside, Warped Tour-esque, with a whole bunch of kids just going absolutely insane and screaming these lyrics back at the band. That image is nowadays usually replaced by the cloudy sadness of unoriginality or it being boring. I fell in love with this song and it will definitely be recommended by me to anyone that needs new music.

“Good ‘Ol Sin City” shows just how talented these musicians are. Impressive all around, it shows that they’re comfortable with their instruments and play them more than well. As for the singer, his voice is just the cherry on top. The lyrics flow and make the song lovable and one that has a timeless sound.

Boy Jumps Ship may be one of the best bands I’ve ever heard. You should hear ’em too.
