When I got my new AP Magazine, in the unsigned bands of the month section, the band The Girlfriend Season caught my attention. I decided to check them out on Myspace and I was impressed.
“Rocketship” is a catchy dance-club-worthy song that will most certainly be played at my next get-together with my friends. It’s easily one of the best songs I’ve heard in a while. Super catchy and unique, it’s good to hear from a new band that’s possibly up-and-coming.
“Danger Baby” provides an almost easy-core beat and is vastly different than “Rocketship”. This band seems like it can pull off almost any genre. Diversity is what keeps the music scene interesting, and sometimes it seems to lack it, other times a band like this steps forward and proves the scene does not lack originality.
“Take Her Down” is once again, different than the other songs. Very addictive and a good party song, The Girlfriend Season is one of those bands that can sound any way, any genre, and still be a solid, talented, outstanding band.
The Girlfriend Season is a great party, dance, any genre kind of band.
