Mike Nesmith is the Monkee who ended up with a smug reputation. His refusal to join so many reunion tours gave him the image of someone not so proud of his past. I doubt that’s true considering The Monkees fame certainly paid (and continue to pay) his bills.
Now Nesmith did give in and reunite with Tork and Dolenz this summer and then ventured off on a brief solo stint, but if you missed that- dont fret.
The “Movies of The Mind” tour is heading to some of the most remote- obscure locations of any tour I’ve seen in a really long time.
The “Movies Of The Mind” earned it’s name as showcase to the films Nesmith has had his hand in- “Repo Man,” “Timerider” and “Tapeheads.” He’s also won Grammy’s first and only video of the year award, receiving the honor for his long-form 1981 video “Elephant Parts.”
“I hope these tours will increase the interest and serve as a way for people to discover this music,” Nesmith said. “It is a lot of music created over a lifetime and I believe people will enjoy finding it once they do. I am having a lot of fun and loving the performances, so I want them to grow in attendance and frequency and do more. The players are all wonderful and inspired by the show so it’s a great evening.”
I understand Mike is a country boy at heart but these tour stop locations are pretty odd. Tickets on sale now and these are the closest dates to NYC
