I have never understood what made Janis Joplin such a legend. The banshee scream never appealed to me and I suppose its because I just never took enough drugs to warp my perception enough.
Spotify seems to think if you like the album ‘This Years Model” by Elvis Costello, that you’ll like Janis Joplin and Joan Baez. This is why Spotify can really suck sometime. Should you program a radio station based upon that album you’re going to get served Joplin’s crap and you’ll be diving forth the mute button like a rabid dog.
On Monday November 4th at 11:30am the legendary woman will have her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Yup.. after all these decades. 6752 Hollywood Blvd will be the spot for the tribute. Her siblings and other old hipsters will make speeches about her fabulosity- yeah.
Ana Martiz, producer for the Walk of Fame, said ‘Janis Joplin is an iconic figure and her songs will always be remembered by her fans around the world. We are excited to add a unique tribute to Janis by her friend Kris Kristofferson who will perform a special acoustic version of Me and Bobby McGee, which Janis famously recorded in 1970 yet was released posthumously in 1971, scoring Joplin a number one hit.’
