Let’s face it
rockers are assholes who make people sort M&Ms by color and need rose petals strewn on the floor before they walk in a room. It’s become a running joke and when artists riders are announced its always a treat to see how idiotic demands can be.
How about we make it a TV show? Ok, then how about we make it a web based show! “The Rider Challenge,” takes place in five cities in the U.S., featuring five bands and six teams of two fans. The acts are Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, Fitz & The Tantrums, Kid Cudi, Fall Out Boy and The Lumineers. Odd group of bands if you ask me ranging from the obscure to the weird but meh.. I’m not to judge.
Sponsored by Live Nation and Fords Fiesta economy car, teams rush across Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles to get everything the band requires- and the first to fulfill the list on this indulgent scavenger hunt? It’s a freakin treasure, well the ‘Grand Prize” is.
The team that wins the challenge in each city will get to meet the artist that matches the rider they just fulfilled and attend the concert VIP style. The grand prize is their own Ford Fiesta and a “Live Nation Ultimate Access Pass,” which will get you into all shows (with all-access entry) that Live Nation puts on at U.S. venues for a year.
“We had a blast hanging out with the Rider Challenge contestants,” said Michael Fitzpatrick of Fitz & The Tantrums. “The show is a creative and fun way to give fans a sneak peek into the day in the life of a band. When you’re on the road it’s the little comforts that make each day better.”
