David Bronson’s eagerly awaited Brooklyn gig happens a week today, September 21st, at Broolyn Bowl. And yes, I know, who wants to go to Brooklyn, but for this one you might have to make an exception. Bronson’s Story prequel, The Long Lost has been a long time coming but now it is here, it has been worth the wait. A lo-fi masterwork constantly on the boil, waiting and waiting, till it breaks out in an anger, and then ends. Or you can slip on the sequel which was, of course released first.
I am not sure what David has in mind for next Saturday’s gig, I am not even sure if he has a full band behind him, but right now I am considering blowing off Sarah Brightman at Radio City Music Hall to see how he puts it all together.
The hope is he does the entire The Long Lost Story from one end to another and encores with some covers and new songs, that should be a 90 minute set and since all I got was 30 minutes last time I feel we are owed it! I really can’t guess how it will work in one sitting. It could well be too much, too overwhelming, especially since many people probably don’t know the new album and it will be played first,
But David is a good guy as well as a real artist and I think he won’t do that, I think he will give the audience some of what they’ve come to hear early on and lose the continuity.
So will I go? I have to check out where the venue is. If I can just jump on the L Train, I think I’ll blow off Sarah, but if it is like Glasslands, a real bitch to get to, I will probably pass and since I don’t see Bronson has any Manhattan gigs, it might be the one concert this year I really wanna see that I’m gonna have to miss.
In the mean time, I am trying to set up an interview with David and will get back soon.
