Jay Z, Kanye and Justin Timberlake: everybody I saw this summer is back again this fall (actually next year in the case Of Hov) and I am gonna go and see em all again.

Why?

Jay Z has finally gotten himself up to pre-retirement power with Magna Carta….   Holy Grail, not the album itself which is only OK, but some of the songs were made to be sung live, I’m thinking of “Picasso baby”, “Tom Ford” and “Fuck Me You Know I’ve got It” that it has raised his game to the roof. Plus, Jay Z knows how to play Stadiums, let alone Arenas, so I am hoping for big things from his January run at Barclays (I’m going on the 22nd)

And bigger things from Kanye this November, I’m seeing him at Barclays and MSG in November (19th and 23rd respectively). At Guv’s Island I was in the equivalent of the second row, maybe 1st row, and that nearness is not to be repeated. Plus, the darkness of the stage didn’t matter, and I could see him whether he was kneeling or standing, didn’t matter much to me. I have nosebleeds for this lot but at least I won’t have to stand for an hour and then stand right through it.

Justin was less successful at Yankee Stadium then Jay Z and so I will be interested if he can get his mojo back at the smaller Barclay Center –I would sure be fascinated to watch him do it. On the Sexyback Tour, Justin was soooo good. I saw him twice, one was the one he taped for HBO but at Yankee Stadium he slipped a little, his only slip of 2013 by my reckoning, and perhaps the smaller Barclay centerwill be more to his liking.

It isn’t easy playing stadiums. Bruce can do it, U2, Taylor apparently has the knack, and now Jay Z , but who else? The Stones and Sir Paul from the old old timers, but who else? Madonna can’t do it, she stank at Yankee Stadium, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry would die out there.. . Coldplay can’t. I think that is it.

Anyway, summer’s gone and we are still here…
