Rather than venturing to a different site TicketMaster is now consolidating the resale tickets with the unsold tickets. What does this mean? Well it means you get a more concise view of whats going on at your local stadium. Example? For an upcoming Miami Dolphins’ home game against the Atlanta Falcons, you can see that a single resale seat in Section 122 priced at $146.05 is right beside an unsold seat selling for $85. Cool huh?
Theyre calling it TM+ and with the new system Ticketmaster will get a cut of the resaled seats as will the seller. Teams such as the Miami Dolphins who sign up to participate in this will also get a kick back. No one is hurt and the chance for unsold seats to sell increases simply because they are so clearly defined in the ‘for sale’ seating chart. Who is Ticketmaster after? Well Stub Hub of course.
Stub Hub is one of the most service orientated businesses I have ever used. Quick response accurate transactions its everything you want in the dodgy business of entertainment.
TM+ will help boost the company’s share of the resale market from about 10 percent to about 30 percent in the next few years, says John Tinker, an analyst with research firm Maxim Group. That would result in about $300 million in revenue and about $60 million in profit each year, allowing it to catch up to market leader StubHub, a unit of eBay Inc.
“StubHub has done a great job in the space and Ticketmaster is finally stepping it up,” he said. I dont think Ticket Master (without major overhaul) could get their customer service levels high enough to compete- but they can gouge up the markeet based on size alone. That is if the venues join in with them.
Either way you’re going to pay out the wazoo for decent seats to the events you want to see. This will never change unless you’re a member of the bands family- the ‘general public’ will never get the seats they dream of in a large scale event by simply going to Ticket Master and paying face value. So this is just another way to get a better view. By the way, I tried three times to check out seats for the Indianapolis Colts and the system crashed each time due to Shockwave issues….lets get those bugs fixed shall we?
