I didn’t know RuPaul, my favorite drag queen of the 90s, was still doing anything, but apparently he has a webseries called ‘RuPaul Drives’, in which you watch him driving his red Volvo around town with celebrities and friends. I stumbled on this last one with…. Henry Rollins, really they are friends? So unexpected!

The show is made to be funny but deep, Rupaul starts the 5-minute episodes with a jokingly tone, ‘Everyone in LA needs a lift, both spiritually and physically’, and continues with guests confiding their deepest secrets and philosophizing about  life.

In this episode, RuPaul helps his friend pick up a large artwork (it’s Clash related!) and he discusses with the Black Flag man the most important thing ever: love. They seem to agree on one thing, allowing somebody in your life is the scariest thing in the world but also the most courageous thing ever. Henry Rolins, who looks as menacing as ever, acknowledges he has failed at it! But RuPaul wants him to find love, to ‘stay vulnerable’, and Rollins admits: ‘It takes a level of courage I honestly think I don’t possess’.

Haaa, who can’t relate to this conversation? The ‘so comfortable at being alone’ feeling and the lack of courage? Thus, will Henry make room for other people after RuPaul’s advice? Because ‘it’s punk rock as hell!’ and ‘the final frontier’ as RuPaul puts it… This is actually the only moment during the conversation when Rollins cracks a smile. The whole thing is very juicy, Rollins and RuPaul drive around town as if they owned it, they look like two justice men patrolling their life and it’s better than confessions in a taxicab.
