It’s not that I don’t like Nine Inch Nails because I do. I once watched em give David Bowie a run for his spiral at Giant’s Stadium.
It’s that the last two albums left me a little mehy… Again, I didn’t dislike em but on the other hand, I haven’t put em on. Plus, all that build your own song shit is too inter-active for me. Why do I wanna remix NiN songs?
So I couldn’t much care when Trent bottled NiN. I mean, when you are essentially a one man band, breaking up the band doesn’t mean a fucking thing.
And when I heard his new band was How To Destroy Angels was a collobation with his wife I immediately though of Wngs and worried.
But Trent gave away their debut six track EP on the How To Destroy Angels website yesterday and who can resist that? And it is a pretty fucking awesome sound. His wife is a (knockout looking) West Indian Girl lead singer named Mariqueen Maandig, and by the last song “A Drowning” -a beaut of a song, we have moved from industrial noise, to the noise of dreams. On the second song “Parasite” the tears in NiN fabrics were moving from industrial noise to industrail dance (the percussion is a thing of beauty).
