There is tremendous buzz over on the other side of ‘the pond’. Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Topper Headon will be conducting an interview for BBC6, Maida Vaile Studios on September 6th.
Why?
I am a massive Clash fan. Hell, I have tattoed the cover of London Calling on my left arm. I mean it, I adore them and they absolutely shaped the person I am. As a teenager I worshiped them and as an adult I admire them, for what they were. If ever there were something I feared it was reunion. Joe Strummer, guitars and vocals is dead. The Clash is dead. For these three to gather under the advertisement of the band name is just ridiculous. If a tour is announced, I would be horrified.
Cerys Mathews will have the exclusive show and is super proud of her opportunity “I am thrilled to be talking with Mick, Paul and Topper at length on 6 Music and will be asking them about their early years, their inspirations and where life has taken them since,” she said in an accompanying press statement.
“Their music gave a generation a voice not just in music but in the choice of how they lived their everyday lives and it still sounds as great, as fresh and loaded with good intent as music can ever be.”
There will be a small live audience. There is actually an application for raffle on BBC6, are you in London? Then g’head and submit your entry. Hurry you only have until August 25th. The show will be pre-recorded on September 6 before being broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music- but no one really knows when that broadcast will happen.
Pray with me now.. please, bow your head…
Dearest Lord in Heaven- do not allow a ‘reunion’ tour. Please sweet Jesus and all the angels–NO NEW “CLASH” MATERIAL . Please let Joe rest in peace. Amen.
