Yeah, I like “Picasso Baby”… not all of Magna Carta Holy Grail works, but that sure did. But for SIX HOURS STRAIGHT??? Following on the heels of the National who did the precise same thing, when they performed “Sorrow” (off their album before this) at MoMA’s P.S. 1 in Queens on May 5th.
Hov followed the National with a single handed six hours of “Picasso Baby” -the definition of an endurance test. And now HBO are gonna show the entire six hours though quite who plans to watch it I am seriously uncertain. If ever a movie needs an editor it will be this one.
Having said that the :30 second teaser looks really cool. Everything is white and Jay-Z is in the center of the stage and the sense of a community that Jay Z would usually not be near getting near to him, is thrilling, iut is, in its own way, a very exciting concept. Plus it is a like a musical “They Shoot Horses Don’t They” like an endurance test and to see a guy who never really shows stress… you are hoping that around the fifth hour things go a little ague… It is on HBO Friday at 11pm.
