Holy crap, what a welcome.
I came back from a summer program to the news that Balance and Composure is releasing a new album, titled “The Things We Think We’re Missing”. This band from Doylestown PA has an incredible sound that has pushed them to the forefront of all my playlists. I’ve been addicted to their first album for months now, ever since I saw them at Skate and Surf. I’ll never get sick of it, but I have been craving new music, which has been fully satiated with this announcement.
They released a song called “Reflection” and I love it. They’ve grown in their sound, while still staying with the classic B&C flair I’ve come to adore. It has so many influences that are clear, even Deftones and 90s alt groups. This single is nearly flawless; Simmons’ voice has an edge that’s stuck with him and I’ve missed it. Hearing a song by Balance and Composure for the first time is a feeling unlike any other. It just pushes me into euphoria and I get so freakin’ into it. The depth of the sound cuts into you and all the layers fit so well. This song proves that their sophomore album will show off how much more experience they now have under their belt.
This tune is so dynamic, and so the band has come back with a bang. Something they’ve always excelled at is including the highest highs and lowest lows in their songs, and “Reflection” is the perfect example.
