I’ve been planning to w rite about this for ages, but remember how the Madison Square garden sections would go: 10s, 100s, 200s, 300s, 400s? So if you were buying section 400 you knew you were getting nosebleeds? Well, guess what they did while they were refurbishing the place? They changed the section numbers, so if you have section 200, row 24, what you really have is section 400.
Confusing but not evil you say? But what if you charge the old section 200 prices for the new 200 section prices, then guess what? Then you are paying $100 for a section 400 which you used to get, just two years ago, for $40.
I really despise the way Arenas conduct their business but I despise the way James Dolan conducts his business more than most. A friend of mine told me about getting thrown out of MSG for taking pictures of Security for saying what a fuck FDolan is. Which, indeed, he is. The entire Cablevision operation from top to bottom? Look at what they’ve done to the Knicks and that is what they have done to local cable.
And the latest rape and pillaging of their fans is typical of the horrorshow.
Incidentally, Barclay Center are very nice and polite, but the acoustics at the top are awful and the seats are disastrous, narrow and uncomfortable? What the hell? For the sake of a coupla feet they changed what could have been a pleasant expensive miles away night out, to an unpleasant expensive miles away night out. Unless you are willing to give up the entire concept of SEEING a band you’re gonna see at Barclay’s don’t go cheap.
