Winner – Warped Tour – As Helen Bach reported yesterday, the far sighted folks at Warped extended their father’s day promotion to include a free ticket to any parent who is bringing a kid to a Warped Tour. Not only is this thoughtful and smart it is great business since, really it is hard to sell out the travelling festival on a daily basis, so the downsize for the Tour ain’t that tour and the upside, in PR but also in getting people to and from the Festival, is sky high. As Helen noted, WT go about their buisiness with the utmost of class imaginable and the result is farsighted and smart moves like this.
Loser – Jay-Z – Jay-Z’s new album has already gone platinum because Samsung have bought a million copies to give away to their clients as part of an APP on June 24th. Really, what the fuck is that. Greed is good blah blah blah but it isn’t that good and whatever credibility Hova had left, has just plain disappeared. It is not good business to be seen as a money grubber especially when there is no real reason. Hay-Z doesn’t need to sell his name for more money. The app? That I get, it is cutting age technology . But the million sales? Ugh.
